The database of 'McCall' mothers and children has over 50 names, and the studios' archive contains letters recreating life on the wards and around Lambeth between 1948 and 1970. The opportunity for some of the women to write their birth stories has been a source of surprise. Vivid memories and associations have been discovered intact after many years.
